It's only because you're pandering to children.
I had to stop reading at 6+ hours of homework. Good luck being taken seriously by anyone that's been through high school from this point onward.
I could probably count on one hand the number of times that I spent 6+ hours on homework in a single day throughout all of my time in elementary school, middle school, high school and college combined.
I've been assigned nine hours of homework for my ap class, been sternly told it was due the following day, then had the teacher tell me to my face that he changed his mind and made the due date two WEEKS later. My teacher is a flat out jerk and said "well it's your fault you signed up for this class". And he also has given us 8 essays to do over fall break, and I'm leaving for vacation. And people say schools (this particular teacher, really) aren't messed up.
Well i only have 5 hours of school rarely 6 or 7 and we get like 4 hours of homework except the hours to study for tests which are like 3 per testpaper ....what can i say the school hours are pretty good but the homework and study ones are kiling us(and im at highschool)
i think sometimes people forget being a teenager. i don't remember it so well, and while i feel like adult responsibilities are crushing, i recall enough to know i would NEVER go back to being a teen, being at school is not like being at work, societal pressures are higher and worse and you are completely at the whims of everyone in school where in a job you have rights and specific duties and even when its complicated its simple. that ALONE makes the 7-8 hours more wearing. blah blah blah, fuck being a nonadult.
Hmm I guess your experience and my experience were very different. I enjoyed a lot about high school. It was way more fun than any job, although there were also a lot of freedoms I didn't have until I was an adult. And though I was never one of the "popular" kids, I had a couple loyal friends just like I do now. And my "fuck whatever other people think" attitude was just as strong then as it is today, so I never felt social pressure at all.
That being said, I'd probably only go back and relive it all if I could keep all my current knowledge and memories. Then I could fix things I regret and use my knowledge about the world for evil and not for good. (I'd probably just go win lots of money in the lottery or invent something that isn't supposed to come out for another two years)
As a high student, I feel like being an adult would be slightly less stressful, though I obviously dont know for sure. For one thing, I take 7 classes, 6 of which are ap. This means that for most of my classes I have at least one test a week and since the schedule is so ridiculous many of my teachers don't teach. I get maybe around 5 hours of homework a night and for the lucky days when I get two hours or something, I have to take notes, read chapters, do online classes and what not. I also tutor which take up a lto of time and, since Im a nerd, Im in math club and to compete you have to study a lot of higher level math and we regularly have practice. I also play a sport which takes up time especially during the season, my school ends at 2:00 but during the season I normally have to stay at school till 7 for matches. Both probably suck though.
Ok. Well, to be fair... I didn't do most of those things. I had a fairly normal schedule, and I didn't usually need to study at all. I was able to pass most classes by doing the homework either in a study hall or right before class started. The only extra-curricular activity I did was the school play, which took up a LOT of time, but it was basically just hanging out with my friends and goofing off. I didn't pass with all A's, but I could pull off all A's and B's without much effort. So I guess everyone has a different experience. For me, being an adult is more stressful, mainly just because of more responsibilities as well as trying to not lose all my friends as people start to move and get married. But being an adult also includes a lot more freedom and fun. I don't think one is necessarily better than the other, I think they're just different.
That's my elderly wisdom for you young puppies.
You're turkish? Heyyy me too! :P
And I definitely understand your problems. I don't study in Turkey, but a lot of my friends do and they are constantly telling me how stressed they are :S bol şanslar :)
Oh. Well then, I understand how you feel, but on the other hand it's good that they prepare you for that. In my country we have to do it ourselves, because it's our responsibility, so basically it's up to you how much time you dedicate to it, and if someone's irresponsible and doesn't spend any time on it at all, it'll become their own mess to clean.
Let me go through my day here:
Two hours of training every morning (5:00-7:00 am) so I need to be up at 4:00, 7 hours of school, expected 1 and a half hours of homework, then three hours of training after school (also car time to and from training- most of which is spend trying to do homework), dinner, chores, and barley enough sleep to survive.
Plus if I go on a state trip for my sport I need to hurriedly catch up on everything I missed.
Just you try to tell me I shouldn't be stressed with my teachers constantly telling me to do better, my coaches getting kissed when I don't get to training, and then the performance expectations from my family in both sport and academic.
I work 8-9 hours a day, then come home and have to fix xtuff around the house and also repair/maintain the cars that we're able to affird somy kids can get around...cars that I pay the gas and insurance on. If I ever go to bed early, I canbet bthat there will be a WiFi issue or printer problem that I'll be the one to adress, and need to be woken up because some homework hinges on it. Think I can put off a car problem, a toilet problem, a washing machine problem, or whatever? I'm responsible for the expenses + insurance + other stuff for a family of 6, but I guess it's the teens that are stressed.
