Yes actually you should look into electron orbital theory for a more accurate representation of the reality of electron positioning. VSEPR theory is actually really interesting.
This isn't a correct representation this is Rutherford's representation of an atom, when Rutherford came up with this it was considered correct. Now we know about orbitals and such... So orbitals are still correct

This is only a vauge (and incorrect) artists representation of the Bohr model of electron shells, not the entire atom. Many doctoral thesises have been written about electron energy levels and I would very quickly reach the charecter limit trying to explain it... which I'm not sure I effectively can at the moment.

A heavy dose of Quantum mechanics, probability functions, the Pauli Exclusion Principal and a lot of math are needed for election shells. Simple diagrams just aren't enough.
