Not to mention: BERNIE SANDERS IS LITERALLY JEWISH. HIS OWN FATHER DIED IN A CONCENTRATION CAMP. NOT ONLY DO YOU NOT CALL PEOPLE NAZIS WHEN THEY AREN'T, YOU DON'T FUCKING CALL JEWISH PEOPLE NAZIS LIKE WHAT
I honestly hate that people are making a big deal about Socialism but honestly america needs it... i think it will help develop the country further as a whole instead of slowly enslaving all citizens and turning it into a company
sad most people in this country don't understand socialism so they argue agianst it and compare it to communism, what is even more sad, it goes back to the fact that we don't educate our children, so majority grow to believe lies without even trying to get the facts,, once you learn what democratic socialism really believes you can see how it would make this country great agian
America does not need socialism you fucking idiots. America isn't not great, we don't need a revolution or serious reformations. Companies work and companies function properly. Citizens are not enslaved you retard. Socialism is extremely compatible with communism because it is essentially represents the same thing, to destroy private ownership of the means of production. The entire point of the American Dream is with hard work and sweat you can work your way to the top of whatever trade you work in. For those who have worked their way to the top that is not only unfair, but it's outright theft.
Ya'll need to watch Michael Moore's film Capitalism: A Love Story. You may think that the American Dream to get to the top is possible, but its not unless you were born with money. The 1% of this country do everything they can to stay in power, they own the elections so they can continue to put their headquarters in other countries to avoid taxes and outsource their work for cheaper labour because everyone else will work for cheap. Our system is benefiting the 1%, the middle class is shrinking, something needs to change, and I'm putting my cards on Bernie Sanders bringing out the S word: Socialism
"You may think that the American Dream to get to the top is possible, but its not unless you were born with money." Really commie? Ever heard of Bill Gates? Steve Jobs? Justin Bieber? (We all hate him but he's a good example) Most celebrities and rich people? Yeah. None of them started off with money, they earned it.
"I hate that people are making a big deal about socialism but honestly America needs it." You have no idea what you're talking about. The poor in America are still some of the richest people in the world. And to those of you thinking, well what about Denmark, their legislative climate is more conducive for business creation and expansion than America's is. They have a higher degree of economic freedom.
Anything Michael Moore has to say about capitalism is biased jackassery. I got an undergraduate degree in economics, finance and statistics and a doctorate in econometrics and fiscal policy. You think we need socialism? You know nothing.
honestly if people want to live in a socialist country do yourselves a favor: move to a socialist country, like Canada or something. don't fight with the rest of us who want to keep our freedom

Actually there is no socialist country. People should really do research. Here's a fairly short explanation http://www.ushistory.org/gov/13b.asp
But nah man to be real I'm a democratic socialist that believes in the values of capitalism, but I want to kind of clean up the sharp edges that tend to cut others off. My views come from Michael Freedman and his work as an economist, especially after reading his book "Ideology and Political Theory". For example, a socialist view of mine is that the welfare of humans should be a societal objective, whether it be healthcare, education, hunger, mental health what have you. I believe that it is a societal responsibility to have that discourse in how to help others. I very much believe that we are only as strong as our weekest link. I also believe that all humans should be productive, and as a democratic socialist I believe that what you put into society you should receive back, no one that seeks their labour 40 hours a week should be living in poverty. But those are just my views personally :)
"No one that seeks their labour 40 hours a week should be living in poverty." I'd like to introduce you to subjective value theory... It states that things are only worth the amount at which other people value them. There are endeavors that most certainly do not warrant a salary sufficient to sustain someone working 40 hours a week.
Yessum I'm aware of that theory, but its simply my point of view that no matter the job, if you work full time you should not be struggling to eat. But perhaps that just comes from watching my father struggle and starve despite working 65 hours a week at a construction site. Being someone that watched the cycle that people go through when born in poverty, its my opinion that the system we have is broken. People say go to college so you can get a better job, but college is expensive, so people work minimum wage jobs that barely keep their head above water and use student loans and scholarships but are still starving, so they are thousands in debt but can't get a better paying job because there are no jobs nearby in their poverty stricken community but they have no money to move somewhere where there are jobs, so now we're back where we started, but thousands in debt. I'm saying that things should change, but like I said it's just my opinion :)
See the problem with your opinion is it's uninformed. As Murray Rothbard said, "it is no crime to be ignorant of economics, which is, after all, a specialized discipline and one that most people consider to be a ‘dismal science.’ But it is totally irresponsible to have a loud and vociferous opinion on economic subjects while remaining in this state of ignorance."
Awesome quote! So very true words. Well hey, I'd love to read up some more! I've taken Global Economics, Political Inquiry, and Economics 101 (total waste of time btw), at my university, and next quarter I'll be taking The Isms of Politics (referring to socialism, communism, globalism and capitalism if that makes sense), but I would love to enter that seminar based classroom next quarter with more knowledge! Hit me up with some articles or scholarly journals (peer reviewed preffered) of you get the chance!
There's more of a spectrum that roughly goes from Complete Democracy(people vote on decisions directly), to Communism(complete control of government), Socialism, is somewhere in the middle of that table (closer to the democracy side, and if I may add, our government is a republic, not a democracy, it's not as close to complete democracy as some people say it is), it's quite elegant, actually, it prevents monopolies, has better infrastructure, has much better control of utility prices, more economic stability, more small businesses (more economic competition), high taxes (and thus, higher minimum wages), free healthcare, better school systems, free higher education (the last three or so are all paid for in the higher taxes we talked about) and it also tends to be more politically diverse. Sweden, for instance, has 8 political parties that are represented in congress (aka Sveriges Riksdag) and the E.U. Quit comparing socialism to communism, you sound stupid.
Bernie Sanders wants to give free things to everyone like he's freaking Oprah. but aren't we already in debt? and where does that money come from? I'm voting for Ben Carson. started in the gutter, became a surgeon. a true man of the people
Funny that the "corrected" sign comes from "uninformed" Americans. Essentially, they're saying that the "as altered" opinion comes from the uninformed ones.
Ooops.

No they are calling the person or people who made it uninformed. The person or people who made it were calling Americans who support him crazy by signing it sane americans. Oops guess that went over your head....
I've never seen the argument that Sanders was Nazi-esque, but I personally believe he's more communist-esque than anything. Sure, he's a "democratic socialist". Sure, socialism creates almost perfect equality in society. Sounds perfect, right? Wrong. On paper, socialism is the perfect theoretical society. Everyone puts in the same general work level and everyone benefits equally. However, socialism has never, and I repeat NEVER, worked properly when put into practice. It may work as expected for a short period of time, but there will always be someone who comes along and makes a grab for power, thus destroying any equality that the original system had. We call this subsequent government communism. We nearly went to NUCLEAR WAR with the Soviet Union in the 60s and 70s to PREVENT the spread of communism, and now this country is attempting to put a communist into the White House. America, what the hell? Please, educate yourselves. Look deeper into his policies than his hollow promises.
Dude, socialism is not that everyone is equal in everything, it's where everyone gets an equal chance. You only spoke about communism. Socialism works, there's socialist countries, I come from one and I love it here. Communism doesn't work.
Socialism doesn't work. In America everyone gets an equal chance. If socialism is so great, why is the European union in trouble asking America for help? Why do people from
Socialist countries come to America every day? And if American citizens want socialism, then why don't they just move there? The best system for growth and individuals is one where the government doesn't have a lot of power. I'm not saying America is perfect but it's better than most places.my parents built a small business from nothing. We're not rich but we get by. And in a socialist world small businesses can't profit
You know the socialist countries, like Denmark, are one of the happiest countries in the world. It's not communism like you made it look like. And Europe asked for help? In what way? If you mean money then I only have to say that in 2014 Europe had a higher Bnp than America. In a socialism you don't have to give up all your money to the state so that others get the same amount of money. Sure the taxes are higher, but that's because school, health-care, public transport and other things are made either free or really cheap.
.
Also fun fact: Sweden (socialist) has more millionaires per capita than The US. So it's completely bull that everyone lives under the exact same standards. Don't even reply until you've looked up what socialism really mean.
I'm aware that they have not declared themselves socialist. However their political system and healthcare system resembles a lot to that of Sweden's, which is a declared socialist country. Denmark is at least more socialist than it is capitalist and that is my point. Capitalism isn't the only political system that works, even if you are indoctrinated to think so.
Denmark adheres to the Nordic Model which is a combination of free market capitalism with a comprehensive welfare state and collective bargaining at the national level. It's hard to argue that Denmark is more socialist than a free market because they have no federal minimum wage, a corporate tax rate 15.6% lower than America's, and they have the best business climate in the world.
What other political system does work?
"if you want to know where the masses are worst off, it's in the kind of societies that depart from capitalism and largely free trade. So that the record of history is absolutely crystal clear, that there is no alternative way so far discovered of improving the lot of the ordinary people that can hold a candle to the productive activities that are unleashed by the free enterprise system." Milton Friedman
I wouldn't say the Swedes have it bad, but it's also false to say they have departed from capitalism. Like Denmark, Sweden adheres to the Nordic or Scandinavian Model which is still very much a free market system. The Scandinavian story the past few decades has been a turn against socialism. Taxes have fallen, and markets have been liberalized. Scandinavian countries compensate for their relatively high taxes and labor market rigidities by following liberal policies in other areas, such as business freedom and openness to trade. For 2015, Forbes ranked Sweden 5th best country for business, the U.S. was 22nd.
Well actually they're more socialist today than they were a few years ago. Actually not much has changed since it was a complete socialist country (however taxes dropped from 50% to around 30%).
Ok, now I understand. But I still think it's incorrect to say that they're more socialist than the previous party in power, at least until they state begins to take over the means of production. Otherwise, it would be socialism in name with a free market in practice.

That doesn't really make him a man of the people it shows how did what he had to do to take care of himself and that's respectful
