One day you're spending 18 hours holed up in a dirt hole being shot at by terrorists and trying not to die, and the next day you're back home and the wife is concerned what drapes would look best in the living room. It's also hard to not be with your family for years at a time, especially if because of your extensive military service, you've never had time to start a family, so when you come home, there's no one to be with.
It is fortunate that there are outreach charities like the Wounded Warrior Project that veterans may turn to for assistance, but the government should be goddamned ashamed and embarrassed that they have to.
Likewise, the American public should be equally appalled that the government that these veterans have served refuses to accept responsibility for their care.
