Or even engineer some touch sensitive cases, good work around. Yes, my case only protects the back and sides BUT it helps with shock and such like you wouldn't believe
That wouldn't work because you're taking a step backwards design wise. It doesn't matter if its an idea that technically works or anything, you won't be able to sell such an "old" concept.
your index finger is not that versatile, you'd have to shuffle your phone up and down alot, or you'd have to make do with a small ass trackpad, except that would mean even less accuracy. won't work.
can you move youre index finger along the entire back of your s5 without loosening your natural grip on the phone (not moving the phone at all). If so, you are not human.
I mean I just tried acting like my phone had a touch pad on the back and I notice the phone shakes a lot also it wasn't very comfortable. "It's a no from me, I'm out" -shark tank
There are pros and cons to every type of interface. But this definitely seems like something worth trying out. The technology is there and isn't expensive. They could make phones with this feature that are inexpensive enough that breaking it won't break the bank.
This would be a good idea, except for the fact that one, it is really hard to use the back as a touchpad without moving the phone a lot, and two, you won't be able to buy a case to protect your phone. So I wouldn't buy it
