I'm Asian and I can't tell the difference half the time. Only when they speak Asian can I determine what sort of Asian they speak and only if it's Chinese and not-Chinese.

I can usually tell the difference between language and writing. Facial features to an extent.
i mean unless you go like studying charts of facial features and regions you really cant tell without direct exposure, for any 'race'... like, i grew up in an area with a lot of hmong so i can often guess correctly if someone is hmong because i have an idea of how they look slightly different, but damn sometimes theres people who i cant even tell if they are asian or latin. and with our ever diversifying world these lines will only grow more and more vague.
eh the way civilization works no one is pureblood, and even as we mix we will eventually create new groups who will then be purebloods among their own group.
Eurasia is literally just a term for both Europe and Asia together, in the same way we call north and south America the Americas rather than north and south America.
It can also mean you're white and Asian mix genetically
can I just say there was one black guy I knew in college who would ALWAYS make fun of my Japanese-American friend by calling him Ching Chong and saying stupid crap like, "oh, sorry bro, that guy on the bike said you're mom can't come home for Christmas this year". nothing against black guys I have a bunch of black friends too but this guy was an as*hole and he always said, "yo bro! I can't be racist cuz I'm black!"
At the school I go to, the kids are mostly black and Hispanic, and the black kids just think it's perfectly fine to make fun of the Asian and Hispanic kids, but then someone talks about police and they go victim mode
I know that's not true for everyone, just a lot at my school
well, there's a difference between not recognizing an asian person as chinese/korean/japanese.... and being polite about it versus blatantly labeling everyone even remotely asian-looking as 'that slant-eyes over there' or something similarly racist.
i'm starting to think people around here care less about the ethics and politesse than they care about someone 'getting burned' so then they can laugh and point fingers. i don't appreciate this. it is possible to teach people lesson without being mean.
Considering the fact that the OP was calling anyone white who can't tell the difference between asian ethnicities racist. This has nothing to do with someone calling someone of Asian decent "slant eyes".
I don't think anyone was being mean and wanting someone to get burned ? It was just pointing something out ? And no one HAS to be polite or care about ethics.
i would have to specifically use the term 'Chinese' instead of 'slant-eyes' as to make my point clearer or ... ?
I understand that people canno't just pinpoint someone's origins but that's not the problem. The problem is people actively not giving a fuck and just calling everybody Asian-looking, Chinese.
@underyourbed definitelly nobody is physically forced to care about politeness or ethics but it is, mildly put, sort of desired that people do so, what's your fucking point again?

I think your missing the racism against "white" people here.
