Hes so fucking right though. Groups like ISIS are completely dependent on fear and how do they spread fear MASS MEDIA we didnt see groups like this untill the modern era. Same with mass shootings in America these are broken people who dont feel love or attention. So they get massive news coverage when they murder 20 school kids. If we stopped reporting these events or at least focused on the victims more than the shooter/terrorist or the weapons behind it, it will cause a HUGE drop in crime rates and number of terrorist attacks. We just need to remember that these are cowardly people who hide behind masks and rely on camera to get what they want. Sorry for the rant.
"...we didnt see groups like this untill the modern era."
You not knowing about a group doesn't mean they didn't exist. Not everyone bases their actions around fame.
In this regard, the news agencies are the terrorists, thriving on our fear.
Without the news agencies, they will simply keep carrying out acts until they are in your very own home town, on your street... on your doorstep.
These are a people who have a psychotic misinterpretation of their religion, a spectacularly intense hatred of the "west," an absurdly xenophobic tribal mindset and zero regard for others lives. Ignoring them will not cause them to fade away. These are a people who will murder and desecrate someone for praying to the same God, but differently... and it's been that way for thousands of years. TV won't affect it.
Ignoring the problem is childish, foolish and naive. Do you remember what happened when we ignored ISIS? Well over 40,000 dead in Iraq and Syria since their start. Do you even know who Boko Haram is? They're not even in the news, yet they are a more deadly organization than ISIS with over 6600 killed in 2014 alone.
Yes, ignoring the problem works so very well. Just ask the Jews of 1930's Germany, or anyone from Serbia, or Ukrainians, or Native Americans how that worked out.
All you people who are saying that it's just ignoring the problem, you're missing the point. Those groups only thrive out of fear. If everyone stopped paying as much attention to the news, they would be far less feared.
It also doesn't mean you have to be uninformed. Actually the more you listen to the official "News", the more uninformed you are. There are far more reliable sources of news than the mainstream media.
Except BBC only ever reports what america did wrong. "14 killed in us drone strike today" "20 killed in mass school shooting" "trump said this today" "people are racist"
Not so unbiased: Theantimedia.org takes a *single* report and runs with it. Also, vaccination leads to autism? Mofo, please.
Lastly, foreign news sources are still media sources, you know. Just because they aren't owned by Rupert Murdoch or some Saudi prince doesn't mean they don't run with an agenda.
The point is you take your news from more than one source. That way, you get a better cross section of the truth.

Also, most foreign news sources are good for a non-American perspective.
