In my religion you are born with your soulmate's name written on your forehead. Obviously it's invisible, but when you meet them you know. Even if they are at the other side of the world you will meet them eventually.
Can you imagine falling in love with someone, deeply in love, knowing they don't have the same tattoo as yours, knowing at some point you have to let go of them. Let's say that you guys get married you have a great marriage and then one day at your spouses family gathering you meet someone, a family member you've never met, and as your spouse introduced you to them you notice their tattoo, the same tattoo as yours, the same tattoo you've had your whole life. What do you do?
except it doesn't work that way. things, people, relationships... they are what we think they are, waht we want them to be. there are endless possibilities and i think that's fine. wouldn't it be boring to live with such a certainty? certainty in itself it boring. it does not offer a challenge. without a challenge, evrything is too easy and nothing is worth our time anymore. all that effort you have nothing to spend on. wouldn't that be disappointing?
i'ts similar to that one... if all of one's wishes come true, does that guarantee happiness?
And not John Green
