Because consoles like having discs, you can put in movie discs, game discs, what would a console be without a disc drive?

Probably a money thing. Might cost more to make a USB for the specific size game then to have a CD.

Nowadays it is becoming a lot of downloading and no actual physical things

I forgot one could buy physical copies of software. I guess they make sense for computers that are not networked; and they've got to be bought cash. Being anonymous is tough.

Usb's are small, so maybe they're easier to steal?

Easier to steal and would probably be easier to bootleg

Exactly that. Anyone will a tiny but of knowledge could just copy the file from the USB and pass it on. Where as one needs certain software to effectively do this with a disk.

Indiebox.com sends you an indie game every month on a drm free usb, and a steam key, as well as merch.

Unfortunately its about cost and waste. USB, expensive and if not USB 3.0 or higher, slow as fuck, and USB 3.0 is expensive. DVD/blu-ray disk are cheaper, are manufactured to exact size and can installed faster

Why is that unfortunate?

Cause I like the idea of lil' USB's with all my favourite game's, like a Mass Effect Customised USB

I don't know, it seems like it would be better to have a stack of CD's on a shelf rather than to have a cumbersome pile of flash drives. Seems like a pain in the ass.

Yeah, pain the ass to store, but like, I think it would look cooler when plugged in
