You know the little packs for cap guns? Before they had those they had these paper ribbons with little pockets of gunpowder which served the same purpose.
Not with these pieces of shit. You can do them with the ring caps but these things don't do squat. They fizz more often than pop. And in any case, the paper really isn't all that flammable so you can't light them easily (or if you do then they don't keep burning).
I used to scrape them against a brick wall, hear a pop and see a small flash of light followed by the satisfying smell of gunpowder.
As a kid, this fascinated me.
I never had trouble burning them. I used to scrape them with my fingernail to set them off until I got a really bad burn under my nail once! It was cool to lay out a long strip and slide a quarter along it to set them off. Also used to hit an entire roll with a hammer to get a better bang. Tried a whole box once. Deafened myself, caught the box on fire, box jumped from sidewalk into dry grass, caught my yard on fire. Good times.
Yeah I think they put something in the paper to kinda fireproof it a little. I guess it could be a problem if the paper caught fire every time a cap went off!
I once tried a little gasoline but it just made the powder too wet to do anything and they just burned like gas soaked paper.
There ya go. I used to pour trails of isopropyl on our kitchen floor and light it to make cool fire designs. It burns fast enough to not burn the floor but mom still flipped!
Put it on my hand and lit it once to freak my friends out. Didn't hurt me but the smell of burning arm hair sucks.
Used to work with a dumbass who tried pouring gasoline on his pant leg thinking it would burn out fast like alcohol does. It was entertaining watching him jump around with his leg in flames!
