Turning off the lights for a day wouldn't help the sky look like that. If everyone in a city kept their lights off for a day the sky would still be fairly empty and void of many stars and beautiful sights like this. But if you go in the middle of no where with next to no houses, the sky would appear like that. It's all on location
The sky still looks like that, you just need to find the right place. Try going out to the country side or desert. My favorite places to stargaze are the BVI and Philmont in New Mexico.
Possibly, but some places will need some ekectricity, ex hospitals. Also we have polluted this planet so bad, I doubt we would see the stars to their full potential. Sad.
You don't have to turn off every light in the world. You need to be pretty far from any big cities and it has to be a new moon or no moon at all. I remember last year on Halloween I went to a pretty small neighborhood and you could see it like that. My recommendation, plan a trip to Wyoming with everything in consideration.
actually we do, in bali indonesia, which mostly hindu, celebrate their religious celebration day by turning all the lights off for 2 nights & 1 day in whole island, and yes the sky looks like this.
