I wouldn't cause that's not generally where burglars kick or ram but it is a place where firemen try and it might be important they can get in your house
I'm not a contractor or anything, but I assume it's because you spend a kajillion dollars on windows and walls and plumbing and electrics and roof shingles and everything else and you don't have a lot of time/money to spend on a nice door so you just plonk that in and then you're done.
maybe.
probably not.

Seems weird to me, I just think a good solid door is a pretty important thing for a home
So what if you're trapped inside your house during a fire and the firefighters try to kick the door open? Or what if a burglar/psycopath/murderer/stalker got into your house and the cops who are trying to save you can't get in through the door.
And besides, those are firefighters and policemen. They are TRAINED for that (depending on where you live.) they have hammers, halligans, and the physical skills to save you
This will do nothing but give you a false sense of security. Screws have little shear strength and snap very easily. Go to a lumber store and look at exterior door jams. You'll realize how pointless long screws in the strike plate are.
A friend of mine didn't know this and her house was broken into in exactly this way. They kicked in the door and the plate flew off because of the tiny screws.
