It's too bad the majority of schools prior to college only teach you to pass the test instead of relying on this philosophy; it's a hard thing to retrain your brain to understand.

What I should have said was that schools teach you the material, and also require you to pass tests on the material to advance, but that does NOT mean that's the only reason they're teaching you the material.
