As a woman, I totally agree. Bitches be cray and need to be treated fairly when it comes to rape allegations

Yes and yes! I never knew that this was such an issue until it happened to my boyfriend. His ex's sister called us out of the blue one day demanding to know about the status of his divorce with said sister. We haven't heard from either of these women in quite a long time I'll add, so anyway we told her no and not to contact us, she responded with a text telling us if we didn't share information about her sisters divorce with her she'd go to the police and tell them she had been raped by my boyfriend. Obviously that didn't work.
The problem being how do you decide its false? How many people get away with real rape because women dont report until after the evidence is gone. Rape is traumatic and humilating and even more so to report it. Youre probed and questioned and quite often blamed over and over again by countless people until its far easier to let it go than be further traumatised.
Im not saying they shouldnt be punished for lying, but being able to prove when a person was ACTUALLY raped is something our justice system cant do right now.
Um...i know? But just because you have no evidence doesnt mean it didnt happen. Thats often why a DA wont try a case. Even when you have undeniable evidence it can be fucked up and people can walk free on technicalities. People who are falsly accused have been found guilty. Our justice system clearly doesnt work.
Yes but why is it that people are always more interested in defending the minority than the majority? Why not ask for justice for all of the people who are raped and assaulted every day? Only 40% of rape cases are reported.
Out of all of the ones reported, 2% are shown to be false
Yet there seems to be more discussion around the 2%.. Perhaps people just aren't comfortable enough to discuss rape and admit that it's happening all around us every day
I'm not dismissing rape or the victims but some people use rape accusation as a weapon of revenge. I don't know where you got your numbers from but how would you know if 40% of rapes are reported and how would you also know that 2% are false when some people have been found innocent only after YEARS of being in prison
Im not saying 2% are false, I'm saying 2% are found to be false.. Those 2% are the people who would be sent to jail, meanwhile all the rest who aren't discovered would have no consequences.
The minority has been a large part of our government, laws, public thinking, and personal opinion in the states since the start of the country. Minority rights such as gay marriage was, and still is in some places, a hot bed issue. It's also not that the majority's rights are being undefended, as there are many groups and peoples advocating for change, but rather that the minority's rights are being undefended, except by low number individuals.
Woah, I haven't had a lot of sleep and this is like an infinity loop to me

People need to stop using that 2% statistic. It's disgustingly biased and the "sample size" leads to inaccuracies. It's the equivalence to the paper that stated that vaccines cause autism and the one that lead to the whole misconception about what the wage gap really means.
Obviously i found it on the internet it is on more websites than I can count.. It's obviously not a completely reliable figure but the point is there isn't a high number of cases proven to be wrongly convicted. Rape it's self is an exponentially bigger problem which is overlooked all of the time
And anyway, what about all the domestic abuse victims who are wrongly accused of crimes? I work with victims every day and many of them have been accused, by their abusers, of being an unfit mother. This leads to social service involvement and many many domestic abuse victims are no longer able to look after their children due to the abuse they've received which gave them mental health or substance abuse problems. Do their perpetrators go to jail for it? Often not, because the women drop the charges due to the emotional control these men (i haven't encountered anyone with a female perpetrator) have over their entire mind.
I wasn't deflecting, i addressed what you said in the first comment, i don't know why you're not willing to listen to what I have to say, especially when your only argument has been dismissing what i have to say without offering any alternative discussion?
I'm listening but I'm only interested in this post at the moment because that's relevant. Bringing up everything else is going on to another subject. Rape is a serious issue yes. And it shouldn't be done but the punishment for falsely accusing someone is far less worse than a person who is falsely accused
Bullshit. The amount of men falsely accused is at least 5 time less than the number of womans that are not believed though it did happen. So cut it off...
Can't take you seriously when you say "womans" also no one is debating that this is about people getting equal punishment when they falsely accuse someone...
It should say people who falsely accuse others of rape should serve jail time etc... black_dahlia is saying it's shouldn't just say girls who falsely accuse men of rape
Im not saying they shouldnt be punished for lying, but being able to prove when a person was ACTUALLY raped is something our justice system cant do right now.
