Watch the older version, not the newer one of you want these people. This show is really good at the cheering you up and inspiring party games

Both the old US version and the UK version are awesome. Colin Mochrie is amazing.

The new one is still pretty good, it has at least two of these guys as mains and the others sometimes come on as guests

It didn't, it's just sometimes hard to find when they're on because the show is overlooked compared to others

WLIIA's timeframe clashed with Friends, and probably Survivor. They took the piss out of both a coupla times - and there was a bit of a one-sided rivalry for viewers. But, for eight seasons up against that (before the reboot), they held out pretty damn well.
