If I'm a god, why would there be death at all? I could just remove it. Teach humanity to terraform other planets, transport them wherever they want to go in the universe, and just watch the show. If it ever gets dull, I can go somewhere else and make some new life. Universe is big enough. And if it isn't, I can just create another one.
