I did this on trip. My bf got sick and i went to the hotel bar and made a new friend. Then we double dated, had dinner with her bf and mine and had a great night!!! We were totally different she is a free spirit traveling the world and I have spent life studying and working. We both said we inspired eachother to be more balanced
A lot of us do that here. That is part of why some of us are here.
.
I also like doing this on airplanes or in hotels in other cities, I like getting outsiders perspectives on current events and learning how they handle personal challenges compared to how I handle life's daily grind. I have learned that so many need a chemical crutch to effectively adult, and I have learned that my wife and i are more fiscally responsible on a day to day basis than a lot of people. You can learn so much about social interactions by talking to strangers instead of hiding under a pillow with earbuds in.
Well, it's different here in that we're all aware we're expected to post, comment, and be commented to.
On the outernet, most of us have shit to do, and don't need to be dealing with random people's bullshit.
I get that sometimes we all want to be left alone but I see us raising a generation of people that do not know how to interact socially and know no opinion but their own. We need human interaction to learn how to live in society. When you ask somebody how they are doing in a line at a store and actually listen to what they say some people walk away visibly happier and less stressed. Polite society is going to be a thing of the past.
Here's what you do
1. Buy a box of chocolate
2. Go to a bus stop
3. Sit on the bench
4. Once a stranger sits next to you say "Hello, my name is ____."
5. Offer them some chocolate
6. then tell em a metaphor about life (for ex. "my momma always said life was like a box of chocolate, you never know what you're gonna get.")
7. Compliment their shoes
8. Talk about your first pair of shoes.
and there ya go
