They should be able to get them from the sidewalk, if anything have to go on the front lawn a few feet to get in range. At least without ar mode (I can't use it because it won't detect my phone orientation) I've caught pokemon from across a street that has the two driving lanes, a parking lane on each side, and a divider, and the pokemon was probably technically in someone's house.
At first I thought these were jokes but there are so many like it. Do the US game (im sorry, Im assuming this is US) really needs you to be RIGHT NEXT TO the pokemon? Cause in the game I downloaded, theres a ciecle constantly appearing around your avatar. And you can interact with everything within your radio, which Ive seen its more than a street wide.
The US version has the interact radius and a lot of times pokemon that are just out of my radius will show up and I can interact with them as long as they're on the map
