Your parents are supposed to teach you how to read before you get into Kindergarten.

It may be different in Norway, but dont you start kindergarten at like 2 y/o? How are you supposed to learn to read before that... We weren't taught to read and write by teachers before we were in first grade at age 5/6.

I'm in the U.S., and I went to preschool when I was 4 and kindergarten when I was 5. I'm confident I learned how to read well enough in between those years

Honestly though why would you start kindergarten at 2 years old? You start it at like 5 or 6 depending on circumstances. You should be learning how to read by then.

Kindergarten is there to teach kids who could not get some form of pre education how to read, write, and basic math.

Maybe it's different terms, but in Norway there is kindergarten/preschool/whatever that you can attend when you're a baby, and go to until you start school. Simple as that. Some learn to read, but it's more about socializing with other kids.

But what do yiu guys si before kindergarten? Just stay home?
