I think it's a GPS, not a pedometer, so no it wouldn't.

Most gps on phones are only accurate to about 3 meters or 10 feet. Some are even less so, so moving about in a single meter circle would do nothing.

Well fortunately for you, and unlike the two commenters above, I DID test this, and it does work! Placing it on a record player works as well, so if you have one, that's the safer method.

Thats just stupid...phones are worth alot and youre just going to tie it to a fan to cheat on a stupid game...Wow, ou understand the point of the game is to actually do the work and EXERCISE

Unless you were gling really, really slow then no. The game only counts distance traveled at low speeds like walking, running or slowly cycling
