And if you dont do it because you think that you're part of the problem. Vote for the best candidate. not who you think will win, or nothing will change.
What if I told you you would be throwing your vote away?
Why bother voting if you know it won't count toward anything? Unfortunately, we have to play the hand we're dealt and that means either Trump or Hillary. There is no viable 3rd option. Just swallow hard and vote for whichever bad choice seems slightly less bad to you.
Honestly, I agree with Hillary when she says "vote your conscience". That's why I'm not voting for either of them, that way no matter who gets elected and ruins America, I can say, "I didn't vote for 'em"
Ok I get not liking either choice. What I don't get is why bother going to the poling place at all if you're wasting your time?
Furthermore, you know full well ONE of the TWO twits is going to be our next president no matter what you do, so why not use your vote to try to keep whichever candidate you find most reprehensible out of the White House? After all, the least worst is still the better of two choices.
what I don't get is the older generation got us in this two party mess, we are just rolling with shit thrown at us, ones a career politician who has nothing more than any other career politician, and the other is a jackass with a superiority complex, who has played to the bigots and most hateful of this country that has no right to even be in this race or running this country,,, sorry but the choice is real simple
Like I said, I'm voting my conscience. That way when they inevitably fuck up, my conscience is clear, I didn't vote for them. On an unrelated note, who here thinks a war with Russia would be conventional rather than nuclear, with the exception of small "tactical" nukes, show of hands?
Nope, actually Trump's likely to be on your conscience. The very fact alone that you're starting a conversation on fucking nuclear weapons shows that you know what this might be about.
^^ alarmingly imaginable. As no potential Trump voter would ever vote for any of the 3rd party candidates, any 3rd party vote will be deducted from HCs base. Remember 2000? Trust me, a lot of people then thought it couldn't get any worse.
We're actually fucking afraid of what might happen if you guys accidentally vote this lunatic into office. Which might have to do with the fact that the average european knows more about american history, society and politics than 4 out of 5 americans. Which is actually fueling this fear.

my mom recently told me that both Clinton and Trump are horrible (which is true) and that she will definitely be voting for the third party, regardless of what their stances on anything are. . . like I'm glad Trump/Hillary aren't getting her vote but we need to be informed on these people/their beliefs too.
Nope, it's what happened. He actually double downed on it a couple days later when Chris Matthews asked him which foreign state leader he would respect. Matthews really probed him long and hard and Johnson couldn't name one. He referred to this as an "Aleppo moment" and kind of thought he was funny. I'm a hardcore stoner, so I don't blame this on his weed habit. Its not good advertising for pot smoking though. And not for american politicians.
Or he thought he shouldn't make enemies right away by saying who he would respect over others. That's a dangerous ass question, and they really shouldn't ask it because it leads to problems in foreign policy right out the gate.
THANK-YOU! Someone else knows a bit of history!
Third party candidates are a pipedream in America. We have to do the best we can with what we have, and try to effect change from within the established club.
If ALL the people who said that voted 3rd party, 3rd party candidates would get like 90% of the vote. Regardless of how educated some people are, there are people in the US who still don't know who is running. They'll go to the polls and say "Clinton? I know that name" or "trump? I've heard of him" and cast their vote. Those people will cancel out pretty much all of the third party voters.
Basically that "ifs" don't mean a damn thing. "If" I would only have had 5 more minutes for the test. "If" all the supporters would have come out to vote. Etc.
There's another that sums it up too: "If 'ifs' and 'buts' were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas."
@aenean yes, that's what a lot of people don't seem to get. No 3rd party candidate has had a remote chance since Lincoln. We absolutely will have a twit or a twat in November, regardless. Both are less than ideal but one is worse. Any vote for a third party will, essentially, be a vote for the worst of the two.

Fun fact if there are no candidates that get around 270 electoral votes then the house decides who is president. So dispersing the vote is a good thing to get a third party president.
Do you REALLY still believe that those in power have your best interests in mind, or care about your opinions!?!?!?
Since the career Republicans are currently in control of the house they'd pick a squishy moderate "ruling class" Republican just like them. Probably Jen Bush. If the Dems were in control it would definitely be Hillary.

But, like my grandma used to say: "If the dog hadn't stopped to shit he might have caught the rabbit."

Fuckin autocorrect.
