It is, the diversity should be the end result. Not everyone doing the same thing as OP comments. The equality comes from everyone having an equal chance. The feminism is seeing that women get the same opportunities as men and vice versa (blurring the idea of Pink Collar jobs, for example)
There are thing women can do that men can't, and there are things men can do that women can't. And then there's things that both genders can do. There, equality, no more need for proving which the better gender is.
It is. I'm not here on this site to tell people what to believe. But I have seen far too well what religion can do to people, and I have always believed in science before belief. Believe in a god all you want, but I will always tell you that you're wrong.
No? Cause it's only my opinion. I'm not someone that orders people what to do. It won't affect my life what someone far away believes in. But I have my "code" if you wanna call it something. And that means I can't not say anything when someone brings up religion.
I appreciate the defense, Mr/Ms. Milkshake, but the word of God speaks for itself. The acceptance of what God says is dependent upon the heart (person) receiving it. If Mr. Anton won't accept it, that's His choice and one that He will answer for... eternally. :(
I don't have a problem with him choosing not to believe in god, that's their decision. But you can't go around telling people that what they believe in is wrong because you don't agree with it
You're right - I'm to preach the love of Christ that He has for everyone. However, it doesn't change what is right and what is wrong. I want what Christ wants - for people to turn away from their past lives, and to begin life anew a new person. It's interesting how this America today preaches tolerance, yet this same hippocratic America is so intolerant of those who speak the truth. Christ died so that we all have the opportunity to be with God in Heaven forever. If only you'd chose it.
Now this is funny to me, you say you "preach the love of christ" yet tell me that I will answer for my non-belief eternally. Thats practically saying that you're forced to believe in god or suffer. That's not love, that's dictatorship. And actually milkshake, I can.
This person makes a good point, but I think you forget how feminism all started. It was because women where being regarded as inferior and where told that they can't do certain things that men can do. But as the feminism movement disproved most of that, the idea of feminism has incorporated different ideas such as equality for men and women ( meaning we have different strengths but we should be treated equally, no one sex/gender is superior than the other) . I do agree though that sometimes "some" feminists stay fixed on what was said in the post.
Are you fucking serious right now @guestwho Please, go back to your high school history class because I don't think you really learned anything there. That is not feminism at all. I really hope you're trolling right now.
Yeah I mean feminism is literally equality between both genders. It's the belief that not only are men not better than women, but women aren't better than men. Some people just get it twisted and call themselves "feminists" when they really want to just feel like they're better.
No guest I am not trolling right now. That is one of the 35 "Undeniable Truths of Life".
Perhaps you could use some education in critical thinking? Quite obviously my post wasn't a statement of my own, but rather a reference to an existing work.
That said, yes I was being facetious.
"Undeniable truths of life" more like unpopular opinions that aren't even correct but will make you look like suuuuch a critical thinker.
Good thing you weren't serious about it.
Again, not mine so...
And in actuality they are tongue in cheek, but are not incorrect.
But my real question is, I know critical thinking skills have been bred out of the last couple generations, but what in hell happened to everyone's sense of humor?
Let's be equals across the board ..
Don't take advantage financially or emotionally of the other gender in ANY situation That's when relationships work. And life.
I can't think of anything that men can't do and that women can that doesn't pertain to children, birth and breastfeeding. Seriously, like there's really no other difference. I think that no one is going to be equal as long as we keep pointing out our differences. Just treat the other person the same as you would anyone else, no matter what their gender is.
This is one of those things that sounds deep but breaks down under the slightest bit of scrutiny. Seriously, there is no good reason why men and women shouldn't be able to do the same things. Oh, and "women are losing their uniqueness" must be the kindest way I've ever heard anyone tell them to get back in the kitchen.
I think I read somewhere though that women tend to have more lower body strength and men tend to have more upper body strength. So for differences that could be one of those things.
In nearly all cases. Think about this. Imagine the strongest woman in the world. Now imagine that she just challenged three average guys to an arm wrestling match. Out of the three matches the woman would only win once, despite being the strongest woman in the world.
The only applicable difference in today's world is women give birth and men can do more physically demanding jobs. Everything else is fair game and that's okay.
Women aren't trying to prove they can do what men can. They are trying to do what they want to, and some of those things are jobs or activities that have been done by males usually. Seriously. For a while, only guys really did science. Then both did. For a while, only guys did politics. Then both did. For a while, only guys ran Fortune 500 companies. Then both did. This thing.... it's literally just that some humans want to do one thing and other humans another. When you get it in your head that a good activity can only be done by one group, you're the wrong one. I like science, I do science. Nonsense that I shouldn't is ridiculous. And by extension, your point falls flat under the weight of its own lumbering stupidity. Saying 'I didnt mean that' doesn't mitigate that you should have realized your global statement was inheritently limiting and moronic.
Yeah but the problem is that in the past things that women did were considered inferior, and we were not allowed to do things that men did. Now I'm anti-3rd wave feminism because I think it's a bunch of whiny crap but I gotta admit that the first feminists/sufragettes got us the freedom to do what men do, and consequently got men the freedom to do what women do (except for biological differences like giving birth obviously). It's not about "women are better at traditionally female things" and "men are better at traditionally male things". We/they generally are because of differences in physiology, but what's important here is the freedom of choice, which is why I admire first wave feminism. It's a shame the movement turned into such a whinefest.
@equa Probably just a dick head troll.
"Feminism" was hijacked very early on by the radicals of the sixties, and has only been further perverted in more recent years by tumblr type psychos. I have long argued that the terminology is the problem due to bad actors tainting the name, not that people actually oppose equality of the sexes.
Those that support real equality (as you seem to), but not the whole "all men are scum" bull spit really just need to find a different label to avoid the backlash instead of wasting time arguing over what it means to be a feminist, IMO.
Which is why I consider myself an egalitarian. The problem with feminists is that they try to hide behind the definition of feminism, and when you disagree with them they try to guilt trip you into sexism. Ironically, it's even worse when you're female because they call you a whore who just does it for attention. As I said, I'm an egalitarian, I think first wave feminism was a great movement that did some progress in society but using the term feminist in today won't do you any good, for pretty obvious reasons. It's like being called a communist 60 years ago and today, with the exception that I personally think that communism wouldn't work even if USSR didn't go full totalitarian with it.
Not to be applied to every situation, but this concept is in fact biblical. Instead of arguing and fighting over each other, why can't we just be at peace with everyone's roles, abilities, and talents? Additionally, if we develop the way we're supposed to be as people (working hard to be Christ-like throughout our whole lives) we should also have compassion, patience, and understanding when encountering people's faults, shortcomings, and mistakes. We have them, too. "Treat others as you wish to be treated." - Jesus Christ (Matthew 7:12)
Merriam Webster seems to think so too.
the mainstream of society.
