They didn't hurt as bad as you think, i used to eat acid candies and lime to see how much i could endure the pain, to be honest it was a stupid idea but the pain wasn't that bad.
Ugh. I just got over one of these. The bastard was there for almost 2 weeks.

I have about 20 of these in my mouth right now. I'm not even kidding. It's gross and it hurts but I've had them chronically all my life. I'm going to be seeing an oral surgeon next month about them (most likely gonna have a biopsy or something) to find out why I get them and how to fix them
My fix, put some salt on it, also use some warm salt water as a mouthwash. Dries it up quickly. Worka all the time for me.

Tried that before. It just burned the shit out of it and made it worse. Salt water stops it hurting for a while but doesn't work as well as it used to :(
What helped me was some medicated lip balm. I put that stuff on several times a day. It had some numbing medicine for pain and the balm protected it from being further irritated.

Thank you @mojockeym I'll ask at the appointment and see what they say :)
To ease pain so you can eat ask about liquid lidocaine. Sounds weird, but trust me- it helps. I had a massive outbreak a couple years ago and couldn't eat or drink anything for almost a month. Almost hospitalized for dehydration and all that but the lidocaine helped me drink some after that. Good luck- I know your pain.

@peachypersimmon: there's a thing called 'clusters' where lots of them form at once. I used to have that. Also, my roommate (sadistic bastard that she was) used to put something called alum on hers...burns like a bitch but then they don't hurt for a while. On a last note, I had these my whole life, but not that I am 'old', they have calmed down some. Took until my mid-30s, but there it is. :)

Thank you @minna77 , it's good to hear from someone who knows what it's like. I have a cluster of about 7-10 of them under my tongue atm at oh my word it hurts. They have calmed down since childhood (used to get double the amount to the point I couldn't eat anything but soup) but I still get them. They've actually scarred and deformed the inside of my lower lip and the edge of my tongue where I've had so many over the years. I just hope that if/when they do a biopsy they'll find out what is causing it.
Alum is in pepto bismol just FYI. My husband gets one in a great while and he takes one of the tablets of pepto and puts it on the side overnight. It will turn the spot black so be warned, but it does help clear it up faster. I can't stand the taste of pepto though so I can't do it. Good luck tomorrow!

@peachy: forgot to add...I had a doctor who offered to give me a prescription anti-viral (I think it's the same thing people take for herpes, but I can't remember the name). She said it would stop the canker sores. I didn't try it, so I don't know if it works but it might be worth a try. I have tried the Canker Cover patches. They are disgusting but they work.

It's like a weird sticky cake thing that sticks over the sore. If you use one, cut it in quarters first otherwise you will have a hockey puck in your mouth by the time it's done growing to its size.
I rubbed them until I saw static from the pain and then stopped. The relative lack of pain was amazing. And when it started hurting I did it all over again.
Yes, yes I can.
I am currently facing that dilemma and am the width of a single cell organism away from ripping these braces out of my mouth with my bare hands
I don't know why but it won't stick to my wires for some reason. Although someone I knew suggested using silicone wax ear plugs so I guess I'll give that a go (it's cheaper too)
I've found that if you brush the CRAP (bacteria) out of a canker sore, it helps reduce its lifespan. Also, try and reduce your intake of foods that are highly acidic, such as tomatoes, lemons, etc.
Yep. Because bullets and knives in the belly and chest don't hurt anywhere near as much.
Killing someone with one punch. Nah.
Canker sores aren't much. Try slaying the Grendel with just a small axe.
Hail Odin.
EW. I've had 13 surgeries, I know real pain, some are susceptible to them. Some its herpes and they always come back. Lol persimmons are the nemesis, I can't even look at them, ain't that a peach! And your mouth is full? Barf
