Yeah you're not supposed to touch the Queen. A few years ago Michelle Obama touched her back while they were having a conversation and it made national news.
Isn't the UK Western too? Wouldn't the British point of view be the "Western point of view"?
Besides, I don't recall seeing anything about Putin standing aside anywhere but here.
Smart point of view: the queen deserves to be a celebrity about as much as the kardashians i.e. She doesn't really do anything but somehow a combination of genetics and inherited wealth means she is "important"
She isn't important. Her role is important. A person such a Steve jobs is important. There are tons of massively successful ceo's no one gives a shit about
@regretfulforeigner Agreed. The royal family has massive wealth and fame just for being born, and apparently the Brits fucking love them. Why? What did they do?
The British government could easily function without them. They should let Queen Elizabeth II. live the rest of her life like this just out of respect for the old lady, but then make the UK a republic. Why waste a portion of the national GDP on some glorified celebrities' luxury?
I mean without the royal family the country would have fallen apart centuries ago. I mean look at what happened with Charles I. So, in my mind it seems like the country is keeping them/paying them to uphold diplomacy, tradition, and to pay off the dues of living in the country they “saved”.
