Aw,you're really sweet! I don't always have friendly words,but your comments hit home for me since I lost two relatives this year,one of which was a great aunt,so I couldn't help but offer my condolences.
I read an article on the BBC that 2016 indeed had a higher number of prominent celebrity deaths than any other year but not a higher number of celebrity deaths overall (the counted obituaries, a crude method, I know). They attributed it to the fact that celebrity culture started in the 40's-50's (golden age of television and theatre) and people started getting to know celebrities more and more and they were more accessible. So we are more of aware of these people dying and now is the time that a lot of them are due to their age and health. It's an interesting hypothesis.
