ok, I'll adress this one as well. America's Tax code is fucking insane. Unless you have ever had to do payroll, you probably don't know exactly how many taxes and insurances are paid on each employee. These things are based on the total payroll for the company. Now restraunts have pretty good mark ups on meals but slim margins for profits. If they bumped their staff up by say 20% (latest acceptable tip), it would cost them A LOT more in taxes and insurance premiums. Those cost would be passsed to the customers and the price of a burger would go from $9.99 to about $15. That better be a damn good burger.
