Cause most of the teenagers are too afraid of a confrontation.

Kinda what I was thinking. The older I get the more I'm willing to stand up for myself and not be pushed around or settle for less than what I expect. If I order a cheeseburger for $.50 or $1 more and you don't put cheese on it and you still charged me, I'm much more likely to say "Um, hey. This isn't what I ordered," than even a few years ago. I'll do my best to be polite, but even then, a polite confrontation is still much less convenient than no confrontation at all to anyone I may be dealing with.

Or, ya know, teenagers have more time to spare and longer life expectations
My thought is: if my food takes an extra 5 minutes because of a screw up or something and that's the worst thing that happens that day, then it's been a good day. Getting worked up over petty shit is exhausting.
Bullshit! Teenage boys are the biggest assholes to walk the planet. If you work with the public and have never had a confrontation with one, you're lying. I see the little idiots starting problems in fast food restaurants, grocery stores, department stores, parks, walking down the street.

damn guest where do you live I mean my experience is pretty much the same as op so maybe it varies from place to place, but where I live it's pretty much always the older people that start beef over shit like the cashier not accepting some expired coupons or something
Different guest, but I live near Dallas and teenage girls are the cunts trying start shit. Let's just say I work at a place where we get tips and I have caught more then a few trying to steal them. Then they have the nerve to get an attitude when you shout "Hey!" with their hand still in the damn jar with our cash being clutched. God I hate teenagers.

I dunno in what country this person lives but the young people are the most disrespectful cunts I have ever seen when working in McDo
idk man, in my experience at sonic, i've never had anyone under the age of 25 yell at me over a screwed up order or an extended waiting period. they've all been accepting and kind about the situation, While Middle aged people tend to scream and throw fits over missing a cherry in their milkshake or having to wait a minutes for their burger with a bunch of requests added to it, small things like that
I've never worked in retail (fortunately) but I use public transport a lot and I agree with this post. Old people are in my experience more likely to put a bag next to them so that nobody can sit there, they skip lines and when you sit, they look at you as if you just murdered their firstborn because they wanted to sit there (even though there are tons of empty seats available). They don't care if you are pregnant or even have a broken leg. This LEGIT happened to my friend, we went by bus together and she had an injured leg, had a cast all over, And old lady came up to her and said "Stand up, I want to sit." not even politely. My friend responded with "But my leg is broken." and the lady responded with, not even kidding, "So what, I'm old, I'm entitled to this seat." My friend was of course polite and stood up and I held her the whole ride because she'd fall otherwise. But yeah, I think the general rule is that teenagers are shits in groups but old people are assholes by themselves.
Kudos to your friend. I completely believe in letting older people sit, but that old person had zero class given the situation, and respect is earned. At an elderly age there are no excuses to not have learned kindness and that the world owes you nothing. I would have told her to go ask someone else.
Your friend may have had a broken leg, but you don't know what damage or pain the old lady could have been in. In a lot of places there are seats reserved for old folks by law. If those seats are unavailable, they are still entitled to a seat. I don't know the full story, but the old bitty might just have been exercising her rights.
@grouchymarks Me too, I always let pregnant women or old or injured people sit if there are no seats available on the bus. But another peculiar thing I noticed is that oftentimes, old people don't thank you when you yield your seat to them. Idk, maybe they really are entitled to some seats, but to me it seems like you should thank the person, how can you expect other people to have manners when you don't have them yourself?
@guest Yes there are seats like that, but my friend was sitting in a regular seat and already had problems squeezing in there as the cast took up a lot of space. That made it even more of a "WTF?" situation as the lady could've just asked anyone sitting in those special seats. Now that I look back, it really seems like the lady was intentionally being an asshole for some reason. Some people feel powerful when they can be jerks to defenseless people, maybe that was her case.
This actually shocks me. Maybe its that I never see this kind of behaviour here in South Africa. Might just be the places my wife and I go to that don't have that problem.
Either way,on behalf of all older people, I apologize for their behaviour. They are supposed to set an example. (Yep..I am 54 yrs young.)
In the restaurant I work at I always feel so intimidated by big groups of fairly youngish girls in their twenties or so. You know the ones that are going for a meal all dressed up then going out on the town afterwards? I always feel really bad because most of the time they're really nice but I just feel so judged - I think that's a result of going to an all girls school :/
Everyone is terrible.
