In south aus you never see any cans or bottles lying around because there's a 10c reward for them. If the drinker doesn't recycle it someone will pick it up the same day to do it.

Same in Norway, we get money back for it. Norway is the leading country actually, we recycle more than any other country.

That's because of the incentive to return the bottles in the form of a monetary reimbursement. However, in the U.S only a few states have any type of recycling incentive programs and the largest lobbiers against having such an incentive are the major produces of said bottles i.e. Coke, Pepsi, Nestle and so on. Trust me if we could get 10c a bottle or 5c a can for recycling you'd never find one in the trash let alone as litter.

Well here in America, you can see plastic bottles on the ground, everywhere, for endless miles and miles.
