All mammals have the same general bone structure, they are just differently shaped.

There are some that are different though. I looked it up not all of them have the same number of bones.

I like that whales still have legs, but they're buried inside their bodies and not even connected to the rest of the skeleton. Just a handful of bones floating in the flesh somewhere.

It's really fascinating. I watched this documentary that dissected an elephant and it explained about the weight on their feet. The shape and bone positioning is very similar to a humans, you can see it if you look close. And then they have that big pad under the heel that provides padding when they walk and also seems to have bouncy qualities to push the foot back up, all while supporting the weight.

I knew that mammals have basically similar skeletons but this is amazing... If it's real

Some elephants happen to die of natural causes.

They had to put the elephant down because of bad arthritis in its leg. It was causing it so much pain that it couldn't move or walk or function. It was kinder.
