An ex-friend whom I looked up to A LOT before we became friends did this to me. It's been a year since that friendship died and I'm still scared to express any emotion towards people. It's not good for my anxiety.

That's just one shitty person there are lots of shitty people sure but you don't have to hide being paranoid of every single one
I mentioned how when I'm in Amsterdam I would like to go dragon boating with a local team. My just rolled his eyes and later told my Mum "why would she want to do that?" I should mention that I just back from competing at the Canadian National Dragon Boat Championships lol!
Dragon boating is based out of China where you paddle (not row) in long narrow boats. There are usually 20 paddlers (in China they sometimes have 40 or more), a drummer or caller, and a steers person. Most races are usually 200 meters, 500 meters, 1kilometre or 2 kilometres. Sometimes different lengths races in the same day.
It's a great team sport and fantastic exercise, working every part of the body. Where abouts do you live? If you're interested, I could help find a local festival or team so you can check it out in person.
Just for the record, I don't get excited over making others feel stupid for getting excited. I'm the one who feels stupid for getting excited about stuff.
I love listening to people talk about something they are excited about. I don't even have to understand a thing about it I'll sit and listen cause it's one of the most beautiful things to hear.

Me when I said I'm hyped for payday on the Nintendo switch
Not everything's worth being exited about and some people are really annoying when they're excited about stuff, and I don't have to put up with that shit.
Deal with it.
Look, even if you don't share the same level of excitement, you can just shut your mouth or leave that person alone and let them enjoy their moment if it annoys you so much.
I bet you'd feel like shit if someone minimized something awesome you were excited about. You would be less inclined to want to share your interests.
I hope you meet somebody that mistreats you like that every time you try to discuss something that excited you, then you'd be more sympathetic to the situation. Understand the discrimination.
YOU fucking deal with it m8

Yeah, and I'd deal with it, just like I'm saying they should.

What discrimination?
Kinda agree. Sometimes people express their excitement by rudely interupting, screaming, making lewd or creepy comments. There's a time and a place for most things. Usually the time isnt nine hours straight of you telling me why this actor is the best and anyone who disagrees is evil. Tell me once, fine. But nine hours.....
