Roads are black because if the color of white is extremely bright when in direct contact with sunlight. It would be impossible to drive on this due to the very road blinding you.

Gray paint would work better but it still has the flaw of being rather blinding and has very little colors that contrast well with it. In other words, road lines would be much more difficult to see.

It's not just paint, its specifically designed for roads, so they have probably put plenty of consideration and contingencies into the entire process. It has already been used by the military for runways. It's actually not as stark white as it appears here.

When it dries it actually a light gray. Also, its only being tested in small area before going larger scale.

This will never work white is to blinding that's why you don't see cars in Canada in the winter. White snow on the road blinds you so you can't see. That's why they ride moose every place in the winter.
