Maybe it's easier to keep them fresh like that or so there is no complaining over portion size

It looks like it's on clearance, so it's likely cheaper than a whole melon.

it also only adds up to like half a melon. Maybe they are just cognitive of the waste and don't want a full melon. It's not differential equations.

They have 4 boxes of melon slices. Maybe not a whole, but it's at least 3/4ths of a melon.
