Cows are cute and friendly and everything, but that doesn't mean that it's not supposed to be eaten. It can have a really big impact on the Food chain and the Ecosystem.

How exactly does a domesticated animal have an impact on the ecosystem or the food chain?
cows requires a food source. Ridiculous amounts of cows = ridiculous amount of food source = ridiculous amount of land clearing for food source = ridiculous impact on ecosystem.

Okay so having lots cows in general ruins ecosystems, forest becomes meadow etc. That’s not what I’m arguing against. How does not eating them change the already destroyed ecosystem and the food chain that we created?

Firstly, I said it will leave an impact on ecosystem. Not necessarily negative, but one. The reason being, everyone is supposed to be fullfil their role in the Ecosystem and the food chain. If we all decided to go vegan then it will cause Apocalyptic reactions.

And secondly. Which destroyed ecosystem and food chain are you talking about? If we are gonna talk about Global Warming and similar things here then I think that that's a different topic.

I’m saying that at least where I’m from, cows don’t live in a natural environment. They live in meadows created and planted by humans, are fed with both the grass in the meadow and imported soy and corn and stuff. They don’t really impact what little ecosystem my country has left (we have very little nature left). As for the food chain, like I said, their food is at least partially imported or grown elsewhere in the country, and the humans who eat them don’t shit in the woods, so the nutrients don’t return to our soil. Therefore, as far as I can see, cows don’t really affect the food chain or ecosystem. You’re right that if all of a sudden no one would have need for cows anymore, we would have way too many of them, but I assume they would simply be fed until their death and they wouldn’t be bred anymore. I don’t see how not eating cows suddenly changes the ecosystem or food chain
It's not just forest becoming meadows. Trees do more; they are carbon storage tanks that produce O2 and in some cases can produce enough H2O to create rivers, lakes and storms. They can also enrich top soil, or if it's a rain-forest, deplete it... but not at the rate any sort of plain/"meadow" would. Just look at the dust bowl. Mark my words, if the amazon keeps getting chopped up, Brazil and quite a few neighboring countries are going to experience a dust bowl. Most of the dirt in the amazon comes from the Sahara on high altitude westerly winds... without that density of plants to create the amazon river and wash all that dirt out, it will accumulate and ruin every goddamn crop they chopped down the rain-forest in favor of. Irony.

Alright. I understand what you saying. May I ask, Where are you from?
Also it's the similar state with my country. And perhaps I should reevaluate my points with respect to the urban areas. Effects will still be there but not so much on ecosystem and food chain but, surely we would be affected(Industries would be shut down, people unemployed, etc.) But if seen for the rural areas then the conditions are still pretty much the same how they used to be. At least here.

And Funk I think we are just simply talking about environment now and not cows affecting the environment. Both are severely distinct.

From what I could find, we consume about 4.7 times as much milk as you do.

Damn. Really? Wow. How much do you people consume? Also. I am talking about whole dairy. Like Butter, Ghee, Buttermilk, etc.

The statistics I found were only for milk, but I personally consume about a liter of fluid dairy (milk, yoghurt etc) a day, and often times a good amount of cheese as well. Oh and of course a lot of butter

Personally it's half a litre of liquid Dairy for me and Lots of Ghee or Butter. Cheese is not frequent. It's occasional. Cause Calories. Lmao XD.
If people would stop eating cows, farmers and industries would just stop breeding them. So there would be no impact. In fact, they're already fucking up our environment because there are bred in such large amounts and consume hella water/food/space in addition to releasing huge amount of methane (which is 12 times worse than CO2) . It's not our duty to eat cows to save the planet lol it's quite the opposite.

Very true, if we still want milk and meat we could also get it from sheep and goats, I believe they’re better for the environment, and of course consuming less dairy and meat wouldn’t go amiss either
Yeah well, still stay alert around them, even the cutest 1500+ pound cow will still stomp your foot and not even slow down (not to mention pin you to a wall, or give you two new body holes.)
