Just use fusion, as it doesn't meltdown and certain fuel produce no waste.

Thorium makes perfect freaking sense and it's a crime against humanity we didn't chose that route 50 years ago. Seriously... we went with uranium and plutonium because we could then build bombs knowing full well what we could do with a thorium salt reactor. Crime. Against. Humanity.
