That'd be a tactically unsound decision. The extra bulk would effect reaction time and make the weapon harder to maneuver. Aside from that, most librarians I know aren't the sort to volunteer to carry on campus. They wouldn't be armed by anyone, they'd just have the option of applying to carry their personal weapon on campus after being assessed.
Also besides the fact a silencer doesn't silence shit. Right? It's just so you don't need dampeners while practicing.. Nobody wants a bunch of deaf people roaming around with guns because they didn't follow the instructions.
I don't want to arm teachers. That invites a whole other issue of a shootout involving civilians. I would prefer a police substation added to schools or retired military hired as peacekeepers. Keeping firearms in the right hands while keeping kids safe.
Getting political: It only takes 1 kid to tackle an unsuspecting, tired, or distracted teacher to begin a shooting. They might not get as far if multiple armed people are in the building but still, the class can still be attacked. I think it's a terrible idea but I am just a Canadian.
The whole "arm teachers" idea is stupid.
We're all just meant to laugh at the ridiculous post, not do something silly like listen to the sound of our own keyboards as we discuss "tactics".
Stupid? Hardly. Most attackers obtained their weapons illegally, and schools are the most vulnerable targets there are. That we haven't already hardened them is what's stupid.
Yes.. stupid. Knowing my teachers they easily would have snapped and just popped a round off to silence the room. You wanna give someone who is already in a high stress scenario more of a reason? I don't. I stood toe to toe with my teachers and argued my fucking brains out and some of them swung.... I want to be able to debate without someone popping off and capping me. Arming a teacher is the worst fucking solution imaginable... it's a road to fascism they just didn't think of. Fuck that. Fuck all that.
If they are trained, pass the same psychological assessments as security or officers, and are willing, then there is no issue.
Also, your anecdote sounds like a whole lot of bullshit.
What if someone just wants to impart wisdom? Now they have to become paratroopers? FUCK............. THAT: -----------> paratrooper teachers <----------fuck this
It'd be entirely voluntary and have nothing to do with party membership, while also under heavy scrutiny, you fucking walnut. You're getting worked up over nothing.
famousone columbine happened almost 20 years ago and we passed gun law after gun law, nics check and waiting period and so on and now you want to try a different approach? Give teachers the same psychological test and training as a police officer and the ability to protect our children? That's just crazy talk. No way, we really need to keep doing the same thing we have been doing for almost 20 years im sure more gun control will work eventually.
That's right! If ineffectual pieces of paper don't do anything but inconvenience decent people, then by golly, that just means we don't have enough of them!
Why are people so resistant to the idea of protecting our children's schools in the same way that movie stars protect awards shows, or that politicians protect themselves?
Treat arming teachers like air marshals, no one knows who is armed and who isn't, and those teachers who choose to train, register, and go through the evaluations and re-certifications, would be able to protect that school. That doesn't mean that visible security wouldn't exist, it's just another layer.
Let's also focus on the massive incompetence shown by the sheriff's office and the FBI, and fix those problems.
You'd like to THINK that, wouldn't you, famousone.
Not thinking an asinine idea through before jumping on the bandwagon like a good little trumpette is what gives away you and your ilk.
I've been advocating for armed staff for a very long time. And there is nothing asinine about the idea. Instead of dismissing me out of hand and painting my ilk as idiots, why not come up with an idea yourself? And please, don't try to make a caricature out of me.
Ridicule and dismissal in response to a genuine attempt to open up a dialogue. Textbook example of person who knows they don't have a better idea, yet insist on claiming intellectual superiority anyways.
Oh, yes. Let me spin my wheels with someone whose mind I know from past experience is FULLY closed.
Twisting reality might be fun for you on the internet, but I sure hope you aren't this delusional in other aspects of your life.
I'm still waiting for your point. Or are insults the only thing you're good for?
Think of it like this. Don't argue for my sake, argue for the sake of those reading this.
Not afraid to double down. I love it.
Think of it like this. THINK the idea THROUGH. It'll save everyone reading this a TON of time.
P.S. I love how you're fine with your people (AND president) throwing insults all day, but get all "safe spacey" when someone has had enough of your constant spewing of political ignorance. What a coddled hypocrite you are.
Meh.
It appears you still haven't thought your own spoon-feeding through.
Perhaps if you spent more time thinking, and less time downthumbing, we wouldn't be in this situation.

It certainly helps identify the rest of the idiots in our midst.

You want an idea, after obviously NOT thinking this through? This is all you get. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200.
