The million dollars now. I'm not interested in destroying the economy with over a googol dollars.

The penny will give you more money- but do the math on how many pennies a day will be dropped off. Physical pennies. How would you deal with that? Where would you put them, how would you transport them to a bank or exchange?

Exactly. I read that just a million dollars in pennies is around 5,500lbs. D:

I could bet. Just a small change jar can be pretty heavy, let alone one of those old water cooler jugs. When I was young I used to hoard spare change. I once paid for a $50 purchase in pennies and that alone was a headache. The business owner stopped taking change after that!

Okay, you MUST take the million dollars. Quick explanation: let's assume that you get one penny on January 1st, 2 pennies on January 2nd, and so on. Even considering the largest estimate of the total money in the whole world (a few quadrillion dollars), you will not have double the pennies every day for a year, because the world will run out of money before the end of February. So, this solution is a complete lie. Either you get the $1M right now, or you basically have been scammed. You're welcome.

Not necessarily. There would be nothing in this hypothetical situation that would stop the US mint from creating those pennies. You would likely destroy the economy and cause rampant devaluation, and its possible that after all was done the pennies would likely be worth more as scrap metal (post 1982 zinc pennies currently have a melt value of about 0.0084 cents.) So the pennies may not be a scam, but in addition to having the logistics and storage nightmare of that many pennies, you'd probably be living in an economically crippled inflationist depression with in a fortress of pennies. Or... I haven't done the math but you could maybe melt them down and get with Elon musk on using the cooper to create a magnetic shield ring between earth and the sun to protect from solar radiation induced electrical disruption. Maybe.

Or maybe you don't even have enough resources on the whole planet to create that much money. You would need more metal to manufacture all these pennies than the whole universe contains.

on like day 57 you'd own the entire earth even if you are paid in literal pennies... Everything after is moot. It's either a million dollars or owning the planet.... I'ma own the planet.

At the end you're making over 400 duodecillion dollars a day. For perspective a duodeciilion is a one followed by 39 zeros. By February 14th or so you'd pass the richest person in the world in wealth. Shortly after you'd make more than the richest person on earth had in total wealth- every day. By the end of February you'd be making more than 700 trillion a day. It gets ridiculous really fast.
