In 1999 they sent a satellite to mars yet someone forgot to switch back to metric from imperial so the $125 million project crashed into mars. Simply said, people are dumb. They will miss a lot.
In actuality when discussing the distances involved on stellar terms the moon is a very very tiny target which is rotating in an axis while following an orbit at high speed. If you get within a few thousand mikes of the moon you actually have done quite well, and you should be proud to have even constructed a craft capable of doing so let alone gottennit off the ground as both the design and construction, as well as the logistics of a rocket launch like that are huge undertakings that some of the smartest people on earth and while countries find difficult. So kudos to you, after mission review your data and fine tune, then try again and get a little closer until you suceed!
