Birds have the ability to fly as a symbol of freedom, eagles are predators thus on top of the food chain. Though I would've picked something a lot more unique found only on the States to be placed as a mascot.
I’m not sure why someone dv’d you other than perhaps over simplification. Mammals aren’t the most common prey of Eagles, but they are included in their prey. At least according to the fairfax county exological study, the friends of beaver nature center, National Geographic, National Audubon, center for conservative biology, and the national eagle center amongst others. As you say though, they don’t actively seek beavers in general as they tend to exist in groups, are well covered, and are very capable of defending themselves. They will readily seize on a beaver though if it makes the most sense or desperation demands it.

You can always count on guest to bring in the info.
National animals are generally just symbols chosen to represent key virtues or a historical significance to a region but not necessarily based in fact, and often cultural. For instance rats were traditionally held in high regard for intelligence and social behavior by several Asian cultures. If we want to over analyze very few animal mascots would be terribly noble representations of a person or nation considering most participate in activities like invest, public dedication, or other behaviors humans would consider unsavory. The bald eagle is in fact a hunter, but like any creature out for its survival it will scavenge as necessary and able, especially to conserve energy.
And on the actual point I just find it funny that my friend in the first comment will defend the bald eagle just so his country doesn’t look like it choose a shifty bird for it’s national animal that’s some weird shit.
What is rather odd to me is the need to nationalize an incorrect statement of facts. I find it odd how you turned a non partisan discussion of animal symbolism into a nationislt statement, or that suddenly correcting misinformation some how became a distinctly American trait. I’m not particularly fond of eagles and would prefer a cuter symbol, but given there’s no actual correlation on reality it’s hardly of importance. You maintain America is on a constant slide and that may be true. Time will tell but I’m living pretty well personally so can’t complain much. I won’t blame that on your nationality as I feel that would be a very self important Canadian thing to do.
What is rather odd to me is the condescending tone to which you bring to every discussion it’s a huge turnoff to wanting to have any sort of meaningful discourse
@dolphinmaster77- I apologize if you felt condescended to. It’s just how I tend to speak and I meant no offense there. Admittedly my last comment had some shade thrown your way based on my own perceptions and what my issues are, and I didn’t confirm I understood you correctly before assuming so for that too I am sorry.
@everyone else- thanks y’all. My respect to you all. The personalities are a huge part of what makes this funsub.
@guest_ look it gets out of hands when shit gets to politics i’m Like addicted to it with the media so I connect it to shit it doesn’t need to be connected to all’s well thank you for your apology and i’m Sorry for acting like a jackass
Mr guest's grammer is so appealingly. Sorry I just had to say that, I like how you "talk" or rather write. Also I find it in a fun way to have mascots for Nations just like sports. What I wonder is why do Nations have mascots? I wonder where that came from and how it began. And yes I've googled it, it's quite interesting.
@everyone else- thanks y’all. My respect to you all. The personalities are a huge part of what makes this funsub.
