I don’t necessarily always agree with the replacing ‘but’ one. It sounds a little bit too apologetic without it. Sometimes that’s needed, other times it isn’t. Depends on the situation.
The coupon thing is real one example of it happening was before I went to Disneyland I was looking for hotels and I would fill out the form as if I was going to rent the room and than not buy it just to get the full price with tax. I was able to get a kid suite for a 2 night stay for only 270 and that is including tax. When originally it would of been 600 all because they gave me a coupon of 1 night off and with proof of my Disney tickets I got another discount. But here is the world's best part. So we get there and the rooms game system doesn't work and a lamp is so messed up it sparked. Well because we complained to tweeter and not the front desk we got our hotel free completely and they gave our daughter a free Disneyland gift basket.
So morel is definitely do the fill out but Don't finish the purchase till later and if you want to complain about a major restaurant or hotel do it on tweeter. lol
When my kids were born, I simply bought See's candy for L&D day and night shift. I believe that you should NEVER do anything, or be nice to anyone, with the expectation of anything in return.
Plus, in this case, they had already done an amazing job. But you get my point.
P.S. Yes, yes, #humblebrag
