It’s so simple. Thank you for solving all America’s issues of inequality. We simply need to pay people more money every time prices go up. Luckily the government sets limits on trade prices for goods, services, and housing so that should be easy.
most of my teachers have to work second jobs to be able to pay their bills. I think we can pay them a little better. do our congress and senate members really need millions of dollars each or do the educators of the future deserve a raise
The problem with those numbers is that they include private school teachers that are payed by said private schools not the government which skews the numbers a lot. Including the fact that teachers pay out of pocket for their students their actual take home is a lot lower. I personally know some teachers that are barely scrapping by.
I heard that public schools teachers tend to make more, due to the fact they have to offer better salaries since they have less choices and private schools have more supply than demand and don't have to have competitive salaries. But that varies I guess.
If you take private school numbers out of the average it goes down to around 40k in bad states. Supplies for 7 classes of 30 or more students is extremely expensive as well. With there being less and less teachers per school the amount of students each teacher has to pay out of pocket to supply goes up and it just eats away at their bank.
That illustrates the problem doesn’t it? The same schools that can’t supply enough teachers to teach, that can’t supply the basic supplies to learn- need to come up with money to pay teachers a better wage. From where, and how are the questions. If money could be manufactured in bulk without devaluing currency why wouldn’t we just let everyone have as much as they want? Resources are finite. So yes, teachers should make more. Yes, everyone should make a living wage- at bare minimum no one should ever have to worry about being homeless, hungry, or sick and receive inadequate, unacceptable, or no aid. My point was that it’s apmost a self evident statement that people (or to some- “working people” should be able to live decently. What isn’t so easy to saber rattle and jingoism away is how one plans to do that without taking money from somewhere else- or what they propose to do about it- and if you come up with an agreeable answer that actually works- congrats.
I’m a teacher and I make around 50k but I live in NY. Rent is over 1200 a month for a one bedroom anywhere driveable from where I teach. I also have crazy student loan debts bc my family made “too much” for me to get grants, I pay 200 a paycheck for my grad studies. I also have to pay union dues, car insurance, car payment, phone bills, internet, food, etc. I have insurance but it’s still expensive for dental work (200+ for a crown not including root canal). I have debt from a surgery I needed. I don’t take a lot home after all that and most of it goes into a savings account. I work two jobs plus took on extra responsibilities at work including running regents prep, after school clubs, and administrative duties. My salary is not enough for me to live on my own so I have to live with roommates
Just literally elect all the politicians who would do that and help the general population....
Boom. Done. Like that's gonna happen..
Sorry for the sarcasm..
