People here generally don't react in a polite way when you don't know about something popular.

i watched the movie a few days ago and.. I didn't like it. it's just random crap which get thrown at you without explain anything. you can't even find a "why?". every minute of the movie i asked myself "why the fuck? where are you guys? whats. your purpose? why you do what you do? the fuck is this movie?!".nothing get explained, stuff gets put into the movie without a reason and just for the lulz.. it's just like a drug trip. Random stuff happens and you don't know why and how. there is a plot but you don't understand it because nothing gets explained. i didn't even know who the main characters are because they don't explain sh*t. and that all in a 2hour long movie.. watching this was the worst experience of my life.

The movie is edited that way but, the story connects. You need to connect it. They don't lay it all out. It all starts with The Comedian's death. It explains us how The Watchmen came into existence, what is it that they did, how everyone was affected after The Comedian's death, how Rorsach was hell bent on finding The Comedian's killer, how Ozymandias wanted to become a God, the romantic plot of Nite Owl and Silk Spectre II, Dr. Manhattan's struggle with himself and humanity and a lot more sub plots. You need to focus on the movie, understand it and then, you have to make the connection and put the pieces together.

I don't know a single character in this movie. I mean.. I got the "pieces" of plots, but for me it just feels bad. They could let 50 percent of the movie away and it would be a beter movie. For me, it's like they tried to compress 6 or 10 movies with a length of 1 hour into this 2 hour movie.. And because that they could not explain much (or basicly nothing). I mean.. They can explain stuff.. They did with the "god" character (the accident etc).. But they did it short. Maybe they should have made a series out of it, not a movie. I just hate it when i get stuff thrown at me without explainations. Like.. Why suddebly this guy have a genetic edited dog? Why the guy with the mask have this "moving things" on his mask? Why people who are looking like they have superpowers don't use them / don't have them? Etc etc etc.. It's just... I don't like it at all. You could replace the main characters with random people without superpowers and it would not change much.. Because the main characters

@cycy- it’s ok you didn’t like it. A lot of people didn’t. I’m not saying this to argue your opinion but to hopefully help answer your questions. The movie is very context heavy. It relies on the viewer to notice and infer things. The only watchman with powers is the blue god guy. The rest are just normal people who are trained to fight- like Batman. They just want to hide their identities and have an “image.” It pokes at the dark side of comics. The fact that the hero is always a “good guy” but in real life if you saw someone running around in a silly costume beating people up you’d think they were crazy. So we meet the watchmen and they are all as screwed up as you’d expect that sort of person to be. The dogs were made by the rich genius guy because that’s the sort of thing a crazy rich evil guy would do. Many people saw the action and the art and thought this was a “superhero” movie. It isn’t. It’s about philosophy and human drama viewed through an alternate history.

It's based on a graphic novel so you might try reading that to understand it better. Your local library might have it.

@guest_ i guessed that the "dog" was created by this "super devil guy", but they never explained or even mentioned it. it was just "plopp" and the dog was there. no rly reason.. he just appear magicaly. that's what i though't was a little bit annoying. things happen / appear.. but everyone acts like "well, that's normal" and everyone seems to know whats happen exept me as a viewer of the movie. the best example is this guy with this "sack" over his face.. there a "magic" looking "dirt things" on this mask which are moving.. so you would imagine "he have some sort of cool power" or that his face is maybe really hurt or or or.. but nothing about that gets explained. as a viewer i don't know if this mask is electronic made this way, if it's magic, some sort of crazy superpower or something strange else.. it's ust there..without anyone seems to bother to tell you informations about that. and thats how the whole movie feels like for me. much of stuff is there.. but nothing get explained.

i asked myself the whole movie more about this god damn "sack mask" instead of the plot itself.. because i wanted to know "what about that".. i said to myself "well, it gets sure explained in the future.. i just need to wait a little longer".. and then.. the movie ended. but nothing got explained. lot's of "what was that?" and "how?" and "why?".. it's just.. come on :c

His name is “Rorschach.” That’s what they call the blot tests they use for word association in old psychology, and he’s mentally disturbed. He got the mask because it looks cool and fits his theme and helps him look intimidating. They don’t really explain much because even if it’s interesting it’s not really needed for the plot. Sort of like they never explain in the early X-men movies how they got the jet, or who makes the suits for them, or most Batman movies don’t cover who does the oil changes on the bat mobile, or how he gets FAA clearance for the bat plane, or manages to hide where it takes off and lands. All are good questions but largely to include them wouldn’t add much since it’s not central to the plot. Similarly why would Elon Musk sell flame throwers? Why did MC Hammer buy a gold sink? Where does lex Luther buy his evil gadgets? They just figure if the villain is rich and smart- that’s enough explaination. For all we know the bad guys in Rambo enjoy collecting tea cups.

the thing about that is.. if it's not relevant to the plot.. why include it? there is all this stuff in this movie who looks interessting and like there is something behind it.. but nothing gets explained & nothing do anything to the plot. i mean.. the mask is really cool & let you think "hey, how is this mask working? why he wears it?" etc.. like batmans costume.. he wears a bat costume because of his fears of bats.. but this mask from "Rorschach".. is just there.. no explaination. thats what makes me mad. and there is a lot of other stuff in this movie who have the same problem. i mean.. if it's not relevant to the plot & there is nothing behind it.. just leave it out of the movie. it's not really added anything to the atmosphere else than add questions to the movie & the stuff in it. if i (as a viewer) have to ask myself stuff like that instead of focus on the plot itself.. there is something wrong imho. it's just cluttered in stuff which they should have not added into this movie.

the problem is see here is just.. if they would have leave this stuff out.. you would be able to see that the plot would be bad / boring. all this weird stuff who they put into this movie.. they make it possible to create a 2 hour movie. without them, you could not tell much of a plot because it would be done in like 30minutes to a hour. and they have should done that imho. the movie would have such a better structure & you could enjoy the plot more. imho. i like it if movies add stuff for the atmosphere.. but this stuff in this movie is not just adding atmosphere.. it adds questions about questions about questions.. and don't answer any question at all. it's just..urghs.

@cycy you should go and do some reading the movie doesn't do The story justice it’s incredibly character driven and you kind of have to know the character’s through the novel you won’t understand a lot and it will feel a slight random

@dolphinmaster77 i can understand that, but i think if a movie is made that bad that i don't understand it without do a research or read a book.. it's a bad movie.

I can understand why you don’t like it. These are a lot of the things many people felt about the film. To be fair though, I don’t think it can be called a bad movie. From the Hunger Games to some obscure French art film- not all movies will speak to all viewers. An artists vision may not be liked by everyone, or they may only be making a piece for a certain audience or even just for their own enjoyment without care. Not all movies are or have to be made for all audiences. Some people love digging through Tolkien compendiums to be able to understand his work, or reading 4billion hours of Star Wars history to get what the hell a sith actually is or why- just why any of it. Some don’t. That doesn’t make a film bad- just not for us. They made police academy 6. Who did they make that for? They either made it for people who were still watching police Academy 5, or made for whoever was making it- but it wasn’t made for most of America. That’s ok.

I can remember thinking in the theatre that if I stuck a pen in my eye, I'd be allowed to leave. Never in my life have I contemplated self harm to get out of a situation, but the watchmen was close.
