It got its name from its original form. It used to just be UU. Then it went and changed away from its name. It's like F and Y originate from the same ancient character.
I know. I'm going by received pronunciation. (most people I know say haitch, I used to too, then switched to aitch'.

I don’t really get why aitch is the “proper” way, like I know it came from the French who don’t pronounce the h, but we do, so in my mind it makes more sense to start h with a h
F, H, L, M, N, S, X all start with E
