Im still getting over the fact that one of my friends is planning her wedding, while the other gets drunk every weekend and streaks. Your 20s are a strange time.

When we compare ourselves to others, or what we believe are the expectations of others, we will feel this way at any age. “Jim was married at my age!” “Jane bought a house at 25!” “John graduated med school at 24!” “Sally invented a whosaflonk and was a millionaire by 20!” When we look at what others have done or have that we have not- or what we think we should have done by now we will always fall short of someone or in some way. As humans we are bad at understanding that we haven’t experienced, time is no different. Many 50 year olds and 60 year olds feel time is almost up, despite likely having as long as a 20 year old has been alive left. Don’t sweat the clock. Despite the hype life is a terrible sports metaphor. The clock runs out whenever it does and everyone is keeping their own scores. There’s no trophy at the end no matter how well you think you did, so just enjoy each day as it comes, and work to make sure you can keep doing that for as long as you are here.

In your 20s, it’s called your Quarter Life Crisis. As @mickymouse pointed out, half your friends are getting making ‘adult’ moves while the rest are still partying like it’s last semester of uni. But nobody seems to have figured everything out. The amount of time that you were in college is as long as the time you’ve been out of college is about as long as you have until you turn 30. Thirty seems so ominous. So... old. And, wait, didn’t we just graduate, like, a year ago? OMG, better hurry up and be successful! Hey, a lot of people have ‘mini crises’ as they reach the middle of whatever decade they are agewise and are suddenly closer to age X than age Y (I.e., I’m 35, I’m now closer to 40 than I am to 30. Oh, no!). It’s hard to do but I think the best thing is not to let your peers’ ‘success’ determine your own sense of accomplishment and self-worth. You’re probably doing a really good job! But if you let other people define your world, they will always make it too small.
