The woman pictured is not Bill Gates’ daughter, she is an actress named Rachel Leigh Cook. She did play a role in a movie called “Anti-Trust”, however, which was a film about a Bill Gates type tech tycoon. At any rate, this story is bull.
There's no way a son of a wood cutter would have the funds to own a computer back when Gates was younger. PCs of the age ran from $1500-3000. A very low end model was 1000 and that was as basic as it got. It would be like buying a $100 desktop today, it does very little.
And why a wood cutter? Where did that come from? His father was a lawyer. The joke would have worked just as well if he said "She's the daughter of the richest man in the world but I am not the son of one".

He had access to a computer because his school got one. There's a great chapter about Gates's choices and opportunities in Malcolm Gladwell's book "Outliers".
So let me get this story straight. Bill Gate (Gates) is at a restaurant with his daughter but they're at separate tables. They order, pay and tip. And this server knew both him and his daughter (they don't look alike and no, the person in the pic isn't either of his daughters) and complains about a tip of $5 despite just getting a $100 on another table and Gates lies about being the son of a wood cutter to get out of giving a bigger tip?....Why a wood cutter? His father was a lawyer. Gates didn't grow up in poverty, he's been blessed his entire life.
