It's about memorization of "some" unnecessary information that you won't be using as an adult. Instead of learning things that you end up realizing you don't know how to do them later on.
There is more to this than the education system. Most international students have to go through various hurdles such as entrance tests, English proficiency tests and Visa interviews to finally be able to make it to the university and it is pretty competitive. Hence, most students that finally make it are generally tough cookies and academically brilliant.
I'm literally agreeing with a guy who has upvotes, and am still getting disliked. I think they might be following me around and disliking everything I've said
