What energy? The piece of shit you're driving just crumpled like a piece of aluminum foil. I'll be home buffing out the scuff marks while they're still sweeping what's left of your "car" off the road and you're in the hospital getting you face stitched up and nose straightened from the air bag.
the Cars that crumple like a piece of aluminum foil do so to minimize the force of impact experienced by the driver in a car crash.
That’s why in formula 1, the cars crumble to pieces in a crash.
If it was as rigid as the car to the right, ambulance people wouldn’t be on stand by.
Driver would be off straight to the morgue
@ajhedges maybe, but I'm of the thinking that a car's soul isn't something they're built with, but rather a manifestation of character that comes from years of love and appreciation from their owners. A new car can certainly aquire a soul, but they don't start with it.
We’re not talking about the personality of the car and how it makes you feel here, we’re just stating that cars that crumple are literally designed for safety in a way older cars could not be. If you wanna have a car that you connect with but is much less safe, then go right ahead, I hope a cool car is worth your life.

Oh get over yourselves. I'm not saying go out and fucking die, I'm saying if you let percieved safety dictate what you do then it's gonna be a long, boring life. Life isn't safe, you could drop dead right now for absolutely no reason, so why should I sweat driving an old car? Besides if you really think driving is so dangerous that you need a safety bubble then maybe just take the bus
just because you take dangerous activities and try to make them safer doesn't mean you live boring at all. I mean you can ride motorcycles and not wear helmet but why not just wear the helmet and be a little safer. Especially when your talking about a difference of living to ride bike another day and not
That's true, but it's when it devolves into a neurosis that compels you to berate somebody else who doesn't do it as safely as you might that it becomes a problem. There really isn't a way to make old cars safer, and if you don't want to drive them that's totally fine, but don't come after me because i prefer them over modern cars
I agree that you shouldn't be berated for it. I think it was more just because it sounded like you like older cars just for that reason. Because that reason is a dangerous reason is the point. I prefer the older style over newer ones as well. And I'm an EMT so I usually point out the key fact about the physics behind the plastic over metal because it really does save lives. That's all. Just trying to inform
When I was in high school there was this guy who drove a really old classic car a 1939 Ford deluxe. lol I had to look the car up for this comment. I am not a car person so that took a while.
Anyways he fixed it from the ground up. One day while driving he had his hand on the window and he got T-boned by a car it hit his driver's door. Both cars flew the direction the other car was going so to this guy's right. When they stopped the car that hit him was totaled. That driver nearly died. But this guys car just a dent in the door and he had a broken arm that is all.
The other guy had side airbags and still was beaten up bad. The guy in the old car had a make shift seat belt he made from a old belt lol his new belt hadn't come in yet. lol

That would be the exception to the rule. They are much safer now that the engine will collapse like that. Like @ajhedges says it transfers the motion to you if it did not crumble.
Did I say it wouldn't? Or that it does? All I said was this guy and his car only came out of a BIG CRASH with a broken arm and a dent. So you down vote me?
