It could be, but then again a lot of these women date and love these men they apparently think are below average anyway. I remember reading once that most women *prefer* being with someone they consider less attractive than themselves, though I can't remember if it's an ego-boost thing or what the reason was

I once read that people in general aren't that opposed to being with someone less attractive. Because if your partner is "out of your league" (I hate that expression tho) you may get paranoid about them cheating.
