It’s stupid to pay any money to someone like Kylie who just wants to be able to call herself a billionaire but then again, it’s also stupid to guilt trip people for not paying for every single sick person. These people need organised help from the government, affordable insurance and medical care, they shouldn’t have to beg on the internet, instead they should be able to survive and live with dignity. A few people thinking it’s necessary to pay for Kylie to become a billionaire are a lesser evil than a government that lets its people die.
Yo, insulin is fucking 25 dollars at Walmart. And y'all can't blame not having socialized medicine for this because my mom has been saved several times at the hospital without even having insurance. Yeah, we got a bill in the mail, but they didn't just leave her to die, considering that's against the law.
a bottle of regular insulin is 25 dollars. This man was either unwilling to settle for regular, or was ill-informed by his doctor. My mother has lived with diabetes since she was eight years old, and we are dirt poor. Yeah, taking daily insulin shots sucks, but it's better than nothing, and this man's death was not caused by our lack of socialism, but by either his shitty doctor, or his bad choices. Downvote me to hell, and I'll see you all there. He should have gone to a doctor when his blood sugar got past 300. They would have taken care of him, and yeah, he would have had a bill for a few hundred dollars, but I'm pretty sure that's far better than DYING.
Apparently he'd just moved to look after his mother, and had lost his health care and was between doctors at the time. Not that that necessarily negates any of what you said, I have no idea about the cost of insulin or how it's obtained. You just mentioned if he had a doctor, so clarifying that he did, in fact, not have one at the time.
He was trying to raise $750 for a month's supply of insulin? But I'd think you'd be able to get smaller dosages than that as a starting point maybe.
Idk, I don't know enough about either side of it, I'm just attempting to fill in some of the information gaps in this post
You can go to Walmart right now and buy a bottle of regular insulin for less than 25 dollars. You don't even need a prescription. It isn't instant, it takes about an hour for the full effect, but it's better than nothing. He could have at least used it to tide him over until he had enough for the Novolog and Lantus. Novolog, by the way, is basically instant, it takes, like, ten minutes for full effect (don't quote me on that), and Lantus is sort of a background kind of thing. But yeah, this guy's death had nothing to do with "teh evulz of Capituhlizm!!!".
Intravenous drug addicts are all the same. Constantly dying of blood sugar overdoses. Stop treating them like patients and make them kick the habit by going through the withdrawal pain. Maybe then they will respect themselves. First Corinthians 6:19 states that your body is a temple and must be respected and that includes your pancreas.
Bro I'm a Catholic but wtf does first corinthians have to do with this? It's so not a matter of religion to help people in need and if you truly believe in what you're saying then sorry but you are as far away from what a christian should be as it can get. If you're so adamant on just letting people suffer because of their past sins instead of trying to help (or at least not saying anything stupid like your comment) then there's really no help for you.
Ya’ll need to lighten up. Even @bethorien can’t claim that this didn’t come across as absurd humor.
It introduces the subject implying an angry ignorance of the condition, works it’s way through a idiotic interpretation of the Bible and then punchlines by revealing that the cause of Type 1 diabetes was always known precisely. That’s a baller-ass joke.
You people need to remember you’re on a humor site and a majority of the comments are meant as jokes even if they sound serious. It’s called deadpan.
Except, deadpan doesn't work too well on here. Not with certain topics. You need to remember that this site is made up of 'us people' and we determine what 'jokes' are funny or not. It doesn't matter whether or not your thinking that it'll be funny, no one here likes assholes.
Sorry I misjudged your comment but there was really nothing in there that would've made me think it was a joke. Thought you were an all-righteous "christian" but now... man sorry but you just seem like a dick tbh
