Aside from the fact they're forcing political views on a student in a situation they have no business doing so, not to mention a situation that did not REQUIRE it to happen. No wonder so many people want to homeschool their kids now.
Just write back "no". And when they send you to the principal's office, just tell the principal that you refuse to conform to their namby pamby bullshit, and you WILL exercise your first amendment rights like a motherfucking American. Doesn't matter if you're not American, you can still claim it, as long as you actually try to get your country leadership to give you actual rights.
Just from what I am see that looks like an acedemic essay and not a “story.” That said- without context we can’t say if this is ridiculous. If the assignment specifically was to challenge the writer to not use gender in a description for instance- to either grow their ability to “show” and not tell, or show the importance of identifying pronouns, etc. it’s also possible in context that it’s poor language. For instance if one used a gender neutral word as a description previously, or a feminine word, then switched to a masculine. Who knows. It’s important to note that it merely says to “consider using” gender neutral words and doesn’t indicate that was factored in to grading at all, nor was it a command. It could also be a specific instruction based on this pupils history as well- which only a teacher would know. So I Won’t jump to conclusion based off this.
Depending on the writing assignment this may actual be the more prescribed style and the teacher is attempting to guide them onto the correct path. Just like how a passive sentence is okay to use but an active sentence is better, especially in things like your resume.
The teacher never said anything about sexism, it's just a polite note telling that in the essay, a gender neutral term would fit better. We can't see what the essay is about or what it requires because its very zoomed in. Stop fucking jumping to conclusions.
