Remember the order of the planets with this:
My Very Evil Mother Just Shit Us Nine Pidgeons
Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto
Ridiculous? I didn’t grow up learning Pluto was a planet! We didn’t even know what planets were! In my day we were taught it was a sky fish swimming in the great black ocean that surrounded our island- Earth. If you didn’t save some of your cabbage from each meal for the year.... oh man. When the sky fish tribute game you were in trouble. Pluto was the sky fish responsible for brining or preventing bunions! You want bunions? Then save your cabbage because now that we know it’s not a planet it could only mean the sky fish were real all along!!!!
I don't see why people are so upset about Pluto not being a planet. It's still classified as a dwarf planet, and no one gives a shit about Charon, Ceres, Eris, Makemake, or Haumea.
Because we were never taught to care about them. No one forced us to *memorize* Charon, Ceres, Eris, makemake, or haumea.
They put hours into teaching me to remember Pluto's name, it's position in our solar system related to the other planets, what the bloody weather on the planet is like, whether it had clouds, or a moon (it has 5), or rings. The fact that water was discovered on it. How long it takes it to orbit the sun. That, like the other planets, it was named after a Greek God.
They gave us tests on it, helpful little acronyms, pictures. We built science projects. Pluto was there.
Pluto was actually my favourite planet as a kid. Can't remember why. Either way, I was *invested* in Pluto, emotionally and academically.
Now they just take it all away because they feel it's too small to count anymore. The planet is a lie.
